Dinosaur Scavenger Hunt for Kids
There is nothing more fun than a scavenger hunt. Take your kids on an adventure as they race around the house and solve clues in search of a surprise. Can your child and friends solve all the riddles? A great way to share a birthday present or party gift bags. Looking for something a little more unusual? This Dinosaur secret code scavenger hunt takes things up one notch.
Make Your Own Dinosaur Fossils
These fun, creative and easy to make salt dough dinosaur fossils are a wonderful activity for a kids birthday party. Mix together 1 cup of salt, 2 cups of flour, 3/4 cups of water into a soft dough. Split the dough into small balls and create stone like flat shapes. Using toy dinosaurs (small ones work best) press your dinosaurs into the dough shapes and create your very own unique dinosaur fossils. Bake at 200 degrees until the fossils are dry, the time it takes depends on the thickness and size. Once dry decorate with paints, glitter or anything else you can think of.
Host a Kids Dinosaur Quiz
Split the group into teams and host a fun dinosaur party trivia quiz with prizes for the winners. How many horns did Triceratops have, for example? Was the Diplodocus a carnivore or herbivore? True or false - the name dinosaur means ‘terrible lizard’? A quick google of Dinosaur quiz questions will provide lots of free questions you can use.
Dinosaur Coded Messages
Entertain your dinosaur mad little one on their birthday with these secret message to decode. A perfect treat for the birthday boy or girl before the party commences. Three messages included ;
1. Happy birthday to the coolest kid I know.
2. You are strong and smart and awesome.
3. You have brought so much joy into our lives.
Host A Dinosaur Dig
This idea requires a bit of extra prep in advance but is a fun activity that kids seem to really enjoy. You'll need a big bag of sand and a container (a sand pit is perfect if you already have it) and some plastic eggs that you can hide some messages inside.
Inside each egg write a secret message and fold it in half. In the past we have used riddles that, a bit like a scavenger hunt, direct a children to a secret location to find a small prize. Dig and bury all eggs in the sand ; giving each child a small spoon start the timer - first to dig, reveal and solve an egg wins.
Pin The Tooth On The Dino
The classic pin the tail on the donkey we've all enjoyed, just with a prehistoric twist. Draw, or print, a large dinosaur onto card and stick in on the wall. Cut out enough teeth for all the children to participate and have them draw and design their own tooth with their name on. Stick a roll on sticky tape to the back of each tooth and, in turns, blindfold and spin each child around. The closest to sticking a tooth in the right place wins. Why stop there - you could also play the same game with a dinosaur horn, tail and more. A fun game to watch as well as play.
